Karen Goldner - 2nd District PDF Print E-mail

Karen Goldner was elected to City Council in 2007 on a platform of working for better jobs and serving as an advocate for the 2nd District. She brings over twenty years of experience in economic and community development to the Council.

Karen worked for the City of Fort Wayne from 1986 to 2003, including serving as the City's Director of Economic Development and managing the Community Development Corporation which makes loans to small businesses. Prior to that she worked for the State of Indiana Job Service where she helped General Motors hire skilled tradesworkers for the then-new Fort Wayne Assembly Plant.

Since 2004, Karen has worked for small private equity funds that invest in new and growing businesses in our region.

Active in the community, Karen has served on the Northside Neighborhood Association Board of Directors, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission, the Curdes Avenue Storm Sewer Task Force, the Northeast Indiana Workforce Investment Board, Invent Tomorrow, the Board of Directors of Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, the Board of Directors of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center and committees of the Girl Scouts of Limberlost Council. She has served on various advisory councils at IPFW and the University of St. Francis. At her church, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne, she has been youth group advisor, a member of the Board of Trustees, and President. She is also a former Big Sister in the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program.

Karen continues to serve on the Parkview Select Committee (which works with Parkview Hospital to retain significant operations on Randallia as the hospital also expands its North Campus).

Karen has lived in the Northside Neighborhood since 1993. She graduated from IPFW with a Masters in Public Administration and has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska. She is the very proud aunt of 20 nieces and nephews, two great-nephews and two great-nieces.
